Madison Development is a comprehensive development company based in La Quinta, California. Madison's principal, Richard Wilkerson, has owned and developed real estate projects for the last 35 years. Joined by his wife, Karen, as co-owner, they have enjoyed development success from coast to coast, but have spent the last several years in southern California, and more specifically, the Coachella Valley.
The company specializes in mixed use developments highlighted with commercial and residential projects. Over the years, the company's name has become synonymous with the highest standards of developmental design.
Madison Development has won numerous development awards, including the National Association of Home Builders Award (Senior Housing) and the SAGE Award. Mr. Wilkerson and his projects have also won the CRA 2000 Award, the Helen Putnam Award, the Grand Prize in Excellence from the California League of Cities, and he has been cited by the U.S. Congress, California State Senate and the San Bernardino Board of Supervisors for his contributions and work in the area of revitalization.
As the developer of the critically acclaimed Point Happy Retail Center just north of Point Happy Ranch in La Quinta, the Wilkerson’s coveted the famous property for several years before it became available. In Richard Wilkerson’s words, “Point Happy Ranch is one of the most beautiful and important pieces of property in Southern California.” He further adds, “We intend to take this already special location and create a new era in the storied history of the property by developing a one-of-a-kind community against the mountain in the heart of La Quinta.”
