A Historical Background
One of the most recognizable landmarks in the Coachella Valley is Point Happy — a scenic oasis that takes center stage in the heart of La Quinta. Everyone has marveled at the towering Santa Rosa Mountains that ostensibly rise from the horizon in captivating splendor.
Point Happy takes its name from the early settler, Norman “Happy” Lundbeck, who tended a small store there. The Point Happy Date Gardens were later established by philanthropist Chauncey Clarke, who purchased the property and offered the first Deglet Noor dates in California. Clarke also raised purebred Arabian horses at Point Happy Ranch.
